Notice for new participants
Pilates is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is a movement based exercise focused on strengthening core muscles that, in many people are very weak.
Weak core muscles can often lead to stresses and strains in larger ‘global’ muscles that have to cope with much higher demands than they were intended.
Pilates is particularly recommended to correct poor posture. If poor posture is not corrected then there is an increased risk of joints wearing away much earlier than they would otherwise, and again stresses and strains developing, all leading to premature ‘ageing’, where mobility problems emerge at a much younger age than they should do.
All you need to join my classess is to arrive wearing loose, comfortable clothing. I supply pilates mats and small equipment for all my students.
I run friendly small group classess, with sizes usually between 6 and 12. It is important to keep pilates classes small, to ensure I can give adequate attention to every student. This is especially important for Pilates, where many of the movements can be done incorrectly if not supervised by a properly qualified teacher.
